Face & Neck Lift surgery corrects aging changes of the cheeks, jawline and neck. Other procedures may be combined with face lift e.g. forehead lift, eyelid surgery, and laser resurfacing. The aim of all these techniques is to remove excess skin, reposition sagging tissues, improve facial contours, and improve the skin complexion.
In a typical facelift, incisions are made within the hairline in front of, and around behind the ears. Tissue lying deep below the skin is repositioned, then the skin replaced, and any excess is trimmed.
The surgery varies from 3.5 - 6 hours depending on the combination of procedures. General anaesthetic is required, and discharge from hospital is usually possible the following day.
It may take 2 - 3 weeks for the swelling and bruising to resolve enough to return to public life. Scars are initially pink, and will gradually fade to white over 3 - 12 months.Play surgery procedure animation
